Common iron therapies can be an unbending iron burden on women
Up to 60% of women experience unpleasant side effects, a possible cause of noncompliance (2)  
Common therapies can be poorly absorbed, poorly dosed, and poorly tolerated (13,14)  
Bioavailability significantly decreases after 20 days (13)  
Higher doses of iron may be responsible for a higher incidence of side effects (5)

WARNING: Hemochromatosis and hemosiderosis are contraindications to iron therapy. Accidental overdose of iron-containing products is a leading cause of fatal poisoning in children under 6.
